Commemorative brochures
Objective
The Government wanted to mark the bicentenary of
the abolition of the Slave Trade Act. They decided to issue
a commemorative brochure. This needed to strike a sensitive
balance between the history of slavery, the efforts to abolish
the trade and aspects of slavery that remain today.
Solution
Our response was to produce a document that was engaging
for a broad readership. This involved extensive research to
find strong and striking images. The design featured a range
of colours using an African theme, combined with a crystal-clear
layout. The brochure had to adhere to very strict Government
guidelines and to challenging time scales. The response was
very positive and DC was commissioned to design a complementary
brochure highlighting the issues of modern day slavery and
Government activities throughout the year.
