About the role

This is a great opportunity for a vibrant, dynamic and highly motivated account manager to join our small team. We are looking for someone to manage a number of accounts and play a key role in developing our business. The position is full-time for 9–10 months, with the potential to evolve into a permanent position after that period.

You will be working on a number of key accounts primarily within the higher education and public sectors, as well as a number of private sector clients, producing inspirational and unique creative work, and following jobs though each stage of production from estimates to invoicing. Key projects will involve working on high profile marketing campaigns, digital and print material, branding and exhibitions.

Experience is a must, plus a passion for taking on challenging briefs and working with our creative team to develop them into successful campaigns and projects that give outstanding results.

You must have fantastic project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects through multiple channels with determination, vision and leadership – and a good sense of humour.

Full induction and developmental support will be provided for up to 6 weeks, so a positive can do attitude and team mentality is as important as previous design or marketing agency experience.

  • The ability to build strong client relationships.
  • A flair for writing quality proposals.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • You can identify and pursue key business development opportunities for us.
  • You can work well with a team but also have the initiative to work on your own.
  • You are a good communicator, confident, organised, can work to tight deadlines, and can manage clients, projects and budgets well.
  • You are familiar with Macs and MS Office software.

Duties include:

Client relationship management:

  • Be the face of DC Group – first point of contact, ensuring that our clients love us and want to work with us
  • Assist clients by unpicking their briefs, find out what they really want and need to achieve their marketing and design objectives
  • Liaise with clients and the design team on a day-to-day basis to ensure efficient completion of design based jobs
  • Be a font of all knowledge for our clients, projects and sectors that you’re working on – share this information in order to grow projects
  • Create client reports and showcase completed projects for client meetings

Jobs in progress:

  • Estimate against client briefs, obtaining quotes from external suppliers and from our internal price matrix to build a unique quote
  • Manage, direct and work with suppliers and freelancers to ensure value for money and a quality product
  • Brief projects into the studio through the creative director, book freelancers and support the creative process
  • Commission suppliers such as printers, illustrators or photographers
  • Ensure that jobs are of the highest standard by adhering to quality control methods and being a guardian for brand guidelines
  • Be the liaison point between the studio and the client for project visuals and amends
  • Send the final files to print, publication or web

Financial:

  • Monitor all costs on jobs, doing everything you can to continually improve our financial position
  • Obtain purchase order numbers from clients as soon as work is commissioned
  • Issue suppliers with purchase orders against agreed estimates
  • Collate all costs, prepare and send invoices for completed jobs
  • File job bags, design samples and other documentation
  • Keep accurate project and budget spreadsheets – through Filemaker Pro and sales projection forecasting
  • Report on the operational and financial progress of projects
  • Keep DC’s finance director informed of financial matters as required
  • Credit card and petty cash reconciliation

Team:

  • Make sure the creative team is fully briefed and supported for each project
  • Work closely with the creative director and team, as well as with suppliers and freelancers so their outputs are of the highest quality and fit the clients brief
  • Record any non-conformances and provide a solution so that they do not occur again
  • Support the team by motivating and encouraging them to deliver their best work
  • Ensure stationery is regularly ordered and meter reading carried out on printers
  • Work with the team to ensure ISO9001 standards are maintained and achieved
  • Participate in 360 degree appraisals for team development

New Business Development:

  • Write pre-qualifying questionnaires for new business tenders
  • Co-write and build tenders for new business
  • Participate in new business presentations and pitches
  • Look to develop our client base both in the private and public sectors
